The Duluth News Tribune’s Rick Weegman writes on NCHC shootouts and how UMD players and head coach Scott Sandelin feel about the tie-breaking procedure. You may be surprised with what Sandelin had to say.

USCHO.com has a comprehensive look at the Bulldogs in its season preview, discussing how UMD hopes it won’t suffer from the same growing pains as last season.

There’s been plenty of talk about the difficulty and depth of the NCHC, and Minnesota Hockey Magazine focuses on the topic and how the Bulldogs plan to compete in the brand new conference.

The Northland’s News Center had a feature on Dom Toninato following in the footsteps of his dad, Jim. Toninato, of course, was a standout at Duluth East and set records with the USHL’s Fargo Force before returning to Duluth to play for UMD.

UMD’s freshmen put on a show against Lakehead University, and Fox 21 did a story on how the Bulldog rookies feel following that game and what needs to be done for them to continue to grow throughout the season.

WDIO looked back on UMD’s exhibition win and previewed the series against Michigan Tech, mentioning how the Bulldogs want to be a difficult team to play against.

Former Bulldog Justin Faulk has developed into a leader during his time in the NHL, and USA Hockey has noticed. Now Faulk could make the final roster for the U.S. Olympic Men’s Team.
